An annual day or company retreat is often the only time the whole organisation is in one place. Leadership wants alignment, HR wants people to feel recognised, and staff want it to be worth the day. A good event does all three without feeling like a long meeting.
Purrple Orryx is a Dubai corporate event company, founded in 2013, that works only with businesses. We design the agenda, venue, content, production and logistics as one programme around what the event must achieve. One producer owns the plan and the run sheet, so you are not coordinating a hotel, an AV company, a coach operator and an entertainment agency yourself.

A full day for the whole company, usually in a hotel ballroom or event venue in Dubai. Results and strategy in the morning, team activities or breakouts in the afternoon, and dinner, awards and entertainment in the evening. We script the running order so speeches, videos and activities build momentum instead of dragging.
A shorter, content-led format for explaining results, strategy or organisational change to everyone at once. We design the stage, screens and sound so every seat can see and hear, rehearse speakers, run live Q&A with roaming microphones or a moderated question feed, and stream to colleagues in other locations when needed.
A small senior team away from the office for one or two nights, at a resort in Ras Al Khaimah or Abu Dhabi or a desert property near Dubai. Facilitated working sessions sit alongside downtime and one shared experience, such as a desert dinner or a mountain morning, for the conversations that never happen in the office.
One or two nights out of the city for a department or the whole company: a beach resort, a desert camp or a mountain property, depending on the season and group size. We handle coaches, room allocation, sessions, activities and the evening programme, and our team travels and stays with you.
A celebration that thanks people for the year: a themed party, a lawn or beach dinner in the cooler months, or a ballroom evening with a band and DJ. Awards work when they are short, fair and well staged. We plan categories and running order with you, produce nominee videos and walk-up music, and brief presenters so the segment stays tight. Bigger programmes can become a full reward and recognition night.

The most common mistake is an agenda that is all content. Attention drops after a few presentations in a row, so we alternate focus and energy, and protect free time as firmly as the keynote.
A one-day annual event in Dubai often runs like this:
On a two-night retreat, the heavy business sessions go on the first morning while people are fresh, with activities and a group dinner later. The second day is lighter: action planning, free time and a shared experience before the journey home.

Up to about 40 people fit one meeting room and almost any resort. From 40 to 200, you need a large plenary room, breakout space and enough rooms on one property. Above 200, venue choice narrows, the plenary needs a proper stage, screens and sound, and check-in, meals and coaches run in waves.
Dubai’s summer, roughly June to September, rules out daytime outdoor programmes, so plan indoor sessions and evening activities. November to March suits desert camps, beach dinners and outdoor activities, and those dates book early. December fills fastest because of year-end parties. Check your dates against Ramadan and public holidays before you commit.
A Dubai hotel is simplest for a one-day event with no travel. Ras Al Khaimah offers beach resorts and the Jebel Jais mountains, about an hour or more by road from Dubai. For events in Abu Dhabi, the capital’s resorts suit companies with teams in both cities. We shortlist and visit options through our venue selection service.
The business content is the reason the event exists, so we run it like a conference: speaker running order, slide templates and deadlines, rehearsals, results videos, stage design, LED screens, sound and lighting. For bigger programmes, see our conferences and seminars service.
We arrange coaches from one or more pick-up points, a rooming list with sharing rules agreed in advance, and check-in on arrival. Dietary needs are collected at registration so every meal covers vegetarian, vegan and allergy requirements. Most UAE workforces are multinational, so we plan menus, timings and prayer breaks with that in mind.
Allow four to six weeks for a one-day event in Dubai, and eight to twelve weeks for an overnight retreat or a group over 200, because rooms and winter dates go first. Shorter timelines work when the venue and date are flexible: CANPACK’s family day for about 500 guests went from confirmation to doors in one week.
Headcount and nights away drive most of the budget through rooms, meals and venue hire. Then come transport, production (stage, screens, sound, lighting, branding), entertainment, facilitators, and awards or gifts. Winter weekends and beach resorts cost more than weekday city venues. Al-Futtaim Logistics held its annual conference for the GCC team at Le Meridien JBR, Dubai, in February 2024, for 200 to 250 staff. The room had a low ceiling, so we lowered the stage to keep the full-size screen and clear presentations. When photobooth props and sleeves went missing, we had them reprinted nearby and on site within an hour. The client’s marketing team described it as a successful event with happy employees. For Peikko Gulf we ran an outdoor team day for 100 to 150 employees at Hilton Ras Al Khaimah in November, from icebreakers and relays to strategy games with facilitator debriefs. Start with the objective and headcount, then fix dates and a budget range. Those decide the destination (a Dubai hotel, a resort in Ras Al Khaimah or Abu Dhabi, or a desert property), the length of the stay and the agenda. Then book venue and rooms, followed by content, activities, transport and dietary details. We handle all of it as one programme.
A town hall is a focused leadership session of a few hours to share results and strategy, with questions from staff. An annual day adds team activities, recognition and an evening celebration. A retreat takes people away overnight, usually for one or two nights, with working sessions, shared experiences and downtime. Many companies combine them.
It depends mainly on headcount, the number of nights, venue and rooms, food and drink, transport and the scale of production. A one-day event in a Dubai hotel costs far less than two nights at a beach resort with a full stage. Yes, indoors. From roughly June to September, daytime outdoor activity is not practical, so we use hotel ballrooms, event venues and resort meeting spaces, and move any outdoor element to the evening. Outdoor desert and beach programmes work best from November to March.
